What is an underrepresented group?
A group that is less represented in one subset (e.g., employees in a particular sector, such as IT) than in the general population. This can refer to gender, race/ethnicity, physical or mental ability, LGBTQ+ status, and many more. Also referred to as minorities, underrepresented minorities, or marginalized populations. What is the range of your local community?
As long as your underrepresented group is within your city. Think about how that underrepresented community might be only in your city, and why they are only in your city.
Can you personally execute the plan?
How can you personally execute your plan and solution after the hackathon? Can you do it by yourself or with other people? How can you reach out to find people who may be helpful? If you will need outside help, make sure to list out who and how they may be helpful.

- Mentorship and sponsorship
- Create a new talent scouting process
- Integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion
Tips from the exec team:
- Your idea doesn't have to be groundbreaking, but it must suit your community's underrepresented group of your choice
- Your challenge doesn't have to be grand, like solving world hunger, but it is recommended to be executable by you
- We recommend picking a group and a challenge that you can relate to, or is a major concern of yours. The personal touch will ensure that you are more likely to succeed
- We recommend that you can personally execute the plan, who knows, this might be your first of many NGOs to help make the world a better place
